New generation Larsen catch trap

The Advantages  of  the Elgeeco Larsen Trap

Members of the corvid (crow) family of birds are intelligent, quick to learn, and are very often suspicious of ordinary Larsen traps.

The superior effectiveness of the Elgeeco Larsen trap is due to the open top and sides of the catching cage.  Birds are more likely to enter the Elgeeco trap because they feel they can hop on and off the perch and leave through the open top or the opposite open side.

An ordinary Larsen trap usually comprises one largish cage with a decoy compartment and one or more catching compartments.  The catching

compartments having either a top door entrance preferred for magpies or a side door entrance preferred for crows.

The Elgeeco Larsen trap consists of a decoy holding cage and separate catching cage traps.  Each catch trap has the benefit of two side entrances and one top entrance or they can be set sideways with an open front and top.  The Elgeeco catching cages can be set in numerous configurations around the decoy cage or they can be employed separately  in different locations with more chances of catching, whilst being considerably more portable and less conspicuous than an ordinary Larsen trap.

Because the decoy  and catching compartments are contained within one unit, the ordinary Larsen trap is often triggered by the movements of the decoy bird.

The Elgeeco Larsen trap has separate catching cages and therefore this problem cannot occur.

Animal welfare is also improved because captured birds are kept apart and the problem of conflict through the dividing mesh is removed.

Legal Information!

It is the law that captive decoy birds must be provided with a perch, shelter, food and fresh water.

Traps must always be used humanely and in accordance with the law.

The Elgeeco Larsen trap catching cage set sideways with an imitation nest with eggs or flesh carrion is good for catching decoy birds.

Another good method for catching individual birds is to set the catching cage upright within a shallow dug hole.

Camouflaging can make these traps almost undetectable and less likely to be stolen.
